Staying in Key Largo

There are a number of different places for tourists to stay in beautiful Key Largo, Florida. The easiest to find are – of course – the hotels and other resorts. Then, there are the smaller, lesser known places, like bed and breakfasts and condo rentals. No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find it in Key Largo.

Let’s take a look at some of the hotels and lodges first. The Dove Creek Lodge features more than just standard hotel rooms – families can actually book small apartments that include a room for the adults and a room for the kids, plus a common area and small kitchen. If you’re looking for a room with a view, however, you might want to check out the Coconut Palm Inn. This Inn features 400 feet of beach right on Florida Bay. They also have a number of private docks, a heated pool, and kayaks and paddleboats for their guests to rent.

The Fisherman’s Cove resort, on the other hand, is for those looking for luxury. Here, guests will find large three-bedroom vacation homes for rent. Each home includes an awesome view from the balcony and a separate kitchen. Dining areas and wet bars are also available, as are pools, hot tubs, and boats. Guest cottages are also available for rent from the Island Bay Resort. These cottages are located near the beach and give guests access to tiki huts and the ocean.

If a family-owned bed and breakfast is more your style, Key Largo has a few of those, as well. The Key Largo Cottages, for example, are perfect for those looking to get out on the ocean. The cottages feature row boats, paddle boats, kayaks, and sail boats for guests to enjoy, and they also have a collection of fishing gear and snorkels for visitors who enjoy these activities. The Tarpon Flats Inn and Marina is another bed and breakfast that offers scuba diving and kayaking excursions. The rooms here are each furnished with British Colonial period furniture, and every room has a veranda that offers a great view.

You can also rent a separate home or villa while vacationing in Key Largo. Elite Vacation Retreats has a number of exclusive villas in the area, as does Freewheeler Vacations. Freewheeler’s properties include a number of quaint little villas with beach access, pools, and even full internet connections for those who need to get some work done while on vacation. Finally, the Ocean Pointe Suites at Key Largo feature full kitchens, balconies, and hot tubs in each suite, plus guests can play tennis, enjoy the private beach, and enjoy snacks at the oceanfront lounge on the property.

Camping is another option for Key Largo visitors, although it may not be a possibility if you’re flying in to the area. If you’re driving, though, and want to pitch a tent, you can check out Kings Kamp, Rock Harbor Marina, Calusa Camp Resort, the Key Largo Campground, or the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. All of these campgrounds feature cooking pits, restrooms, and showering areas for their guests. Many also have events and information on wildlife in the area, making them a great way to save money and keep your kids entertained on your vacation.
